From spring to autumn, there’s nothing better than dining out in the open, and what better way than in a splendid patio overlooking the sea?
For those of you landing in Rome’s Fiumicino airport during lunch or dinner time, don’t head to the Eternal City just yet! There is a hidden gem that your palates can’t wait to taste! The restaurant is called Gina a Porto Romano, and it’s just around the corner in the Fiumicino area.
In a quiet street where you will also find the Porto Romano Yacht Club, there is a lovely seafood restaurant that will blow you away. The kindness of the staff paired with the beauty of the location will truly make your dining experience just perfect.
For those of you who like staying inside, the indoor dining area is simple yet elegant, and has large windows overlooking the patio, the gardens and the sea.But honestly, if you come to Gina a Porto Romano, the outdoor patio is where you want to dine!
The patio is furnished with charming tables and chairs, the lovely white parasols have plants hanging down from them and the sight of the sea is truly marvellous. And if you come for dinner, the sky’s colors transforming during sunset is truly a sight not to miss! But then again, a nice lunch on a sunny day is also the perfect time to come!
And it’s not over! The food at Gina a Porto Romano is amazing. If you’re into seafood, you’ve hit the jackpot! All the fish is fresh and comes from Civitavecchia, Anzio, Terracina, Fiumicino and other places in Italy. Whether you’re craving a tartare, a seafood pasta or a delicious seabass simmered in white wine, Gina a Porto Romano delivers!
I definitely recommend the tuna tartare, it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. The octopus with potatoes is also excellent, and for a main course, you won’t go wrong with the classic spaghetti with clams! But if you prefer fish, ask the kind waiter for the catch of the day and you’ll be blown away!
And wine lovers, Gina a Porto Romano also has a wonderful wine selection composed of Italian wines coming from different regions! Ask the sommelier for any advice. To finish off, there are yummy desserts, but I always like to end my meal with a creamy sgroppino al limone (lemon sorbet with vodka or prosecco). Don’t forget to make a reservation.
P.S. After your meal, take a walk in the yacht club to admire some beautiful boats!
