Where to eat Japanese food in Rome’s Monti neighbourhood
For those that want to dive into one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods of Rome, and while you’re at it, taste some delicious Japanese cuisine, Hasekura in Rome’s Monti area is the place for you!
This small and cozy restaurant is situated in the Monti neighbourhood, on Via dei Serpenti, and it serves authentic Japanese cuisine. For those that were searching for an intimate yet friendly atmosphere, Hasekura is ideal! The restaurant has less than 10 tables to serve, creating a sort of “neighbourhood” restaurant vibe. The decor is a blend between a modern and classic Japanese style, with wood-beamed ceilings, parquet floors, Japanese paintings, dimmed lights and small black sleek tables.
But let’s get down to the food, it is outstanding. At Hasekura the fish is extremely fresh, so you must order the sashimi moriawase. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!
The sushi rolls are also exquisite, don’t forget the California rolls – done like you’ve never tasted before – and the sashimi moriawase. The tuna tartare with sesame seeds is also delicious, as are all the warm plates.
To accompany your meal Hasekura has a good wine and sake selection picked out for you. And if you want to end your meal in perfection, you cannot miss out on the choko-wasabi ice-cream or on the matcha ice-cream (green-tea ice-cream). It is so yummy!
Hasekura is an excellent Japanese restaurant where you will taste fresh sushi, sashimi and Japanese hot plates. And it’s the perfect place to explore the charming Monti neighbourhood after lunch or dinner. Oh, and the Colosseum is just a 10-minitue walk away! Don’t forget to make a reservation!
