A romantic sunset dinner in Ponza Island

Just a 10-minute drive from the port, you will find Il Tramonto, one of Ponza Island’s best restaurants with a view.

The island of Ponza is not your typical island. Forget those islands whose natural beauty has been hidden by the over-construction of buildings. Instead, embrace an island whose landscape has been literally almost untouched.

To say the truth, when your taxi or bus will drop you off the small street that leads to Il Tramonto, you’ll think to yourself “where am I”? But no worries, just walk up the street and you’ll find the restaurant, famously known on the island for, well, the sunset!

But before you head to the restaurant, there is one thing you MUST do! Il Tramonto’s roof is completely flat, so everyone gets on top of the roof and takes endless pictures of the fabulous panorama. From here, you can see the island of Palmarola and the sun slowly fading away, as well as the wonderful Cala Feola.

But wait until you head down to the restaurant to be truly stunned. Il Tramonto has a jaw-dropping terrace with a paradisiac view. To get the best table, make a reservation in advance (two days before, minimum)! And of course, you HAVE to come here during the sunset. The best time to reserve your table is at 8pm, so you have those 30 minutes to admire the whole beauty of the panorama.

Imagine the sight of the sun slowly setting, the pink-tinted sky, the cliffs and the sea, it’s a view you will never forget. Totally romantic if you’re searching for a romantic vibe (and also simply beautiful for any occasion)!

But thankfully Il Tramonto doesn’t just offer a fabulous view. The food here is delicious and the service is friendly and professional. As soon as you arrive, they take out a tray with the catch of the day (you know, in case the menu didn’t inspire you enough)!

The wine selection is also excellent, with Italian wines dominating, and a few local wines from Ponza. And the restaurant’s food menu: yummy, yummy, yummy! I started out with the amazing Catalan-style octopus, which was so good I stole a few bites from my boyfriend’s while he was not looking.

For the main course, I ordered the delicious pasta with prawns and pistachios (delicious and creamy) and my boyfriend had the seafood cruditè (exceptional and super fresh).

Instead of desserts, we ordered my favorite – sgroppino al limone (lemon sorbet with vodka and prosecco). And we were also offered two Finocchietto liquor (amazing)! Our whole experience was top notch in this restaurant, and it just left us craving for more. But since the table we wanted wasn’t available, we didn’t (we’ll be back next year)!
