One of the best restaurants in Trevignano in Lake Bracciano
Whether it’s a sunny winter day or a beautiful day in spring time, lunch overlooking Lake Bracciano is a must! Rome is beautiful, but sometimes you just want to dive in nature and relax in a different setting. And there’s nothing better than the charming lakeside town of Trevignano!
Just a 40-minute drive from Rome awaits you this lovely town with a cute center, a beautiful lakeside walk, a magnificent sight, and lots of yummy restaurants! And for lunch, you definitely need a good restaurant! And if you’re searching for one right along the lakeside, La Grotta Azzurra is your place!
My parents have been going to this restaurant for over 25 years now! Ever since they met they’ve been going here! And my dad has been going here for far more! La Grotta Azzurra is a yummy family-run restaurant serving delicious local specialties. The whole setting is super cozy.
It’s set on two floors, and it also has a beautiful outdoor area and a terrace! We happen to have lunch here a lot on the weekends. Just a couple of weeks ago, we reserved a terrace table, with a beautiful view of the lake. Just keep in mind that if you come here during winter, get here around 12pm or 1pm as the sun is still high and it’s not cold!
But apart from the beautiful location and the cozy setting, what’s great at La Grotta Azzurra is the food (and the super kind service)! Even though I always glance at the menu, I end up ordering the same things. I KNOW, very bad, but I really crave those flavours when I go here! For starters, the bruschette with lardo di colonnata and honey are amazing! So delicious!!
For a first course, I suggest you order the tagliolini all’erbette or the delicious pappardelle al cinghiale! As a second course, my brother always goes for the meat, and I have to say it’s terrific! The filet al pepe verde is extremely good, and juicy! So meat lovers, go with that! But if you want to go with some fresh water fish, the coregone al pepe rosa e timo or the fish of the day with an orange sauce are WOW!
There is also a good Italian wine selection, and they also have weekly wine proposals! And the best for last, the desserts are phenomenal! They are all homemade, except for the ice creams! The last time I was here, I had a walnut flour cake with a homemade orange cream. It was amazing.
If you find it, you have to order it! Another delicious one is the rotolone with their homemade jam! Yummy! And of course, an espresso after lunch cannot be missing! Don’t forget to make a reservation.
