Pierluigi is one of the best seafood restaurants in Rome
Eating in the center of Rome is not always a guarantee. Between the many tourist traps and often exaggerated prices, you’ll probably be better off having dinner somewhere else.
But there are exceptions. If you’re craving a delicious seafood dinner surrounded by centuries-old Roman palazzi, I have a place you may be interested: Pierluigi. You probably heard it already, after all, Zuckerberg, Obama and many others have been here on their visits to Rome (and of course me)!
Just a footstep away from Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Farnese, you’ll find Pierluigi in the beautiful squared Piazza dei Ricci. As you step inside, you will be immersed in an intimate and stylish setting, with a modern yet cozy decor, and with stacks of wine bottles adorning the room. And of course, you won’t be able not to notice the exceptional catch of the day!
But my favorite place to dine at Pierluigi is in the outdoor area – right on the piazza – where you can breathe the Roman atmosphere. Tables covered in white tablecloths placed on the piazza’s cobble stones and the beautiful sight of the warm toned palazzi. That will definitely set the mood.
If you’re a wine enthusiast, prepare to get lost in Italy’s vineyards while reading Pierluigi’s extensive wine list. And if you’re a seafood lover, let me tell you right now, it’s going to be hard to choose from the menu, and when in doubt, always ask for advice!
The menu at Pierluigi is vast and offers different types of dishes: from appetizers such as homemade pressed octopus and the spectacular catalana salad with tiger prawns, rucola and cherry tomatoes to main courses such as spaghetti ai crostacei and different kinds of fish like turbot, sea bream and red snapper. The seafood cruditè is also phenomenal.
Pierluigi is definitely a place I recommend for a wonderful seafood dinner. Sure, it comes at a price, but after all, you are immersed in the center of Rome eating exceptional food. I think it’s definitely worth it. I took my boyfriend here for a surprise birthday dinner and we had a wonderful time.
