We’ve all heard about Shakespeare’s tragic love story – Romeo and Juliet – but a romantic weekend in Verona is everything but tragic, unless you’re part of the Capulet or Montague families!

A must-see is the lovely Castelvecchio, where you can also get a great view of the river. Purchase a ticket to visit the beautiful museum, home to important paintings, sculpture and sketches from great Italian and European artists such as Tiepolo and Tintoretto.

After lunch, head to Verona’s renowned shopping street, Via Mazzini, filled with mainstream and high-fashion boutiques such as Armani, Trussardi and Furla, and don’t forget to stop by the department store, where all the designer brands are showcased.

And if you want to see Juliet’s famous balcony, make a right turn onto Via Cappello, where you can enter her house and take your picture in the famous picturesque balcony.

For a coffee or hot chocolate, head to the magnificent Piazza delle Erbe, surrounded by small caffes and wine bars, and enjoy your tea while overlooking this beautiful piazza, filled with the winter market during the holiday season.

By now you’ll probably want to rest, so head to your central hotel and relax.
